President's Message2005 - Spring UpdateOn March 29th, 2005 the PMI Lakeshore Chapter held its Annual General Meeting. The minutes of the meeting describe the business conducted. This included the election of the 2005 Board of Directors based on the new organizational structure. The new Board met on April 2nd 2005 to elect the Chapter officers for the 2005/2006 term. I am again honoured to be elected as President of the Chapter for the 2005/2006 term and am pleased to introduce to you the Board of Directors and the Chapter officers for 2005/2006. Returning to the Board, as Directors are Angelo Baratta, John Beamish, Kiron D. Bondale, Gillian Prieur, and Joseph Zielinski. The new additions to the Board as Directors are Richard Birchall, Sudesh Kothare, and Gale Ryckman. Joseph Zielinski has now assumed the role of Senior VP Operations, which is a new Chapter officer position. Sudesh Kothare is the new - Treasurer while John Gaston will return for another term as Past-President and Chairperson of the Board. Departing the Board after excellent contributions in 2004/2005 are David Brady and Blanca Alcazar. I thank them for their dedication and hard work. This is the year of transition we are moving ahead at a rapid pace to serve our membership better and build on the past year's momentum to reach our goals through a new structure. We have re-organized our governance structure to recognize the increased demands on the Board from the tremendous growth we have experienced. We have adopted a three-tier arrangement to separate the Strategic and Operational and Implementation roles. We feel that this will help us provide a development path with effective succession planning, improve our operational performance in the long run, and implement projects effectively. The Board will now focus on Strategic issues and the Vice-Presidents and Assistant Vice-Presidents of Functional Areas will form the nucleus of the Operations tier while team volunteers will help maintain operational effectiveness and implement projects. Our journey to successfully effect all such structural and operational improvements for achieving Chapter excellence and showcasing our reputation and credibility as a component leader depends largely on the cooperation of our members. PMI's Global Congress will be held in Toronto in September 2005 and will be a major platform for all Canadian chapters to come together and promote a positive image. I would like to therefore take this opportunity to reach out to our members to:
Sincerely, |
