President's Message

2004 - Winter Update

Thanks to an overwhelming response to our request for volunteers from the membership, we are on our way to the implementation of our first strategy - "Enhance the current environment".

We will continue to build on this initial step to realize our goal – chapter excellence. It is a small step for us but a giant step in moving the chapter forward to being more mature and offer better benefits and services to our members.

We have assigned resources to most of our projects and here is a snapshot of progress:

  • Infrastructure – website has been re-designed – improvements have been initiated and requirements and rules for the forums are being formulated with implementation to follow.
  • Customer care – improved delivery methods – a project team has been formed and execution is underway with deliverables to be completed by the end of April, 2005
  • Finance – improved reporting and budgeting – RFI for a new auditor has been sent out and selection will be completed by Jan 2005 to formally initiate the project
  • Organizational structure – new structure – project is underway, board members have been surveyed on their workload and a set of recommendations taking into consideration workload, organization structure, succession planning and volunteers will be developed by March 2005
  • Professional Development – new courses (PMP & other) – project is underway with the Best Practices in Project management course scheduled for Feb 16, 2005. More PMP courses will be identified for implementation 2005.
  • Programs – anniversary event – the December 6th event was a huge success in spite of an early winter storm. The project team did a phenomenal job in a short period of time and made it a successful event.
  • Continuous Improvement – process documentation – project has been initiated and several key functional areas are being documented.

I am pleased to announce IIL Canada will be our principal sponsor for the year Dec 2004/Nov 2005 and will help us host the Best Practices in Project Management course in Feb 2005.

It's that time of the year to once again enjoy the festive season, have fun and continue to implement our initiatives in the new year!

My best wishes to everyone for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
Ram Sriram, CMC, PMP
